I grew up outside Dallas, Texas, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in German and English and Secondary Teaching Certification in German and English at the University of Texas-Austin. I lived in Oxford, England for two years, then moved to Wisconsin. In 1999, I started teaching English at Lake Mills High School, and also taught German here for a few years. In 2002-2003, I participated in a Wisconsin-Hessen teacher exchange through the sister state relationship between Wisconsin and Hessen, Germany. Since then, I have organized a short-term student exchange program with the Max-Weber-Schule in Giessen, Germany, every three years. In 2008, I completed a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, including a three week study-abroad program in secondary school libraries in Scotland. In 2013, I completed my professional level certification as a Library Media Specialist. During my time at LMHS, I have taught English 9, AP English Literature, Novels, GSS, and English 11. Starting in 2017-18, the AP Literature class is also ENG104: Intro to Literature through the University of Wisconsin Green Bay's College Credit in High School program, in which students can earn college credits at reduced tuition. Starting with the 2020-21 school year, I've been the Library Media Director as well as teaching two English classes.
